Ever since I was a kid at school
I messed around with all the rules
Apologised then realised
I’m not different after all
Me and the boys thought we had it sussed
Valentinos all of us
My dad said we looked ridiculous
But boy we broke some hearts
In and out of jobs, running free
Waging war with society
Dumb blank faces stare back at me
But nothing ever changed
Promises made in the heat of the night
Creeping home before it got too light
I wasted all that precious time
And blamed it on the wine
Chorus:
I was only joking my dear
Looking for a way to hide my fear
What kind of fool was i
I could never win
Never found a compromise
Collected lovers like butterflies
Illusions of that grand first prize
Are slowly wearing thin
Susy baby you were good to me
Giving love unselfishly
But you took it all too seriously
I guess it had to end
(chorus)
Now you ask me if I’m sincere
That’s the question that I always fear
Verse seven is never clear
But I’ll tell you what you want to hear
I try to give you all you want
But giving love is not my strongest point
If that’s the case it’s pointless going on
I’d rather be alone
’cause what I’m doing must be wrong
Pouring my heart out in a song
Owning up for prosperity
For the whole damn world to see
Quietly now while I turn a page
Act one is over without costume change
The principal would like to leave the stage
The crowd don’t understand

# MUSIC FOR CHANGE project
Hello and Welcome to the Playing For Change Foundation!! The Playing For Change Foundation (PFCF) is thrilled to announce the opening of our first music school, the Ntonga Music School, in Gugulethu, South Africa! Located just 30 minutes outside of Cape Town, the school will provide the children with valuable skills development and mentorship designed to instill self-esteem and confidence. From basic music reading and writing to performance and production; the Ntonga Music School will provide a safe, creative outlet for the children while connecting them to other students around the world through music. It is the first school of it’s kind in the area and will be a source of great pride and inspiration for years to come. With your help, we are planning new music schools in the countries of Nepal, Mali, and Ghana, as well as developing programs at existing schools and communities in the United States. We are grateful for your continued support and look forward to sharing the progress and impact of PFCF during the remainder of 2009 and beyond! One Love, Whitney Kroenke Burditt Executive Director, Playing For Change Foundation Co-Founder, Playing For Change, LLC

Tim Rose was born in Washington, DC, and raised by his mother Mary, who worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, his aunt, and his grandmother in an area known as South Fairlington Historic District, in Arlington, Virginia, where he was to meet Scott McKenzie, who lived nearby. Rose learned to play the banjo and guitar, and won the top music award in high school. He trained for the priesthood, but was thrown out of the seminary for inappropriate behavior ("I realized I wasn't going to be the Pope", he said later, "and if you can't be the boss, why join the company?").[cite this quote] Rose graduated from Gonzaga College Prep School, a noted Jesuit institution in DC, class of 1958. From there he joined the United States Air Force (in the Strategic Air Command), in the pre-Vietnam era, and was stationed in Kansas.[clarification needed]}} He later worked as a merchant marine on the S.S. Atlantic and in a bank, before becoming involved in the music business.
His first band was The Singing Strings, which included his friend McKenzie, who later joined with John Phillips (eventually of The Mamas & the Papas) in a local group called The Abstracts, later The Smoothies and eventually The Journ
eymen. Other members of the Strings were Buck Hunnicutt, Speery Romig and Alan Stubbs. In 1962, Rose teamed up with ex-Smoothie Michael Boran as Michael and Timothy. Jake Holmes, Rich Husson and Rose formed a group called The Feldmans, later known as Tim Rose and the Thorns.
My favorite; "Reasons to believe"
